I'm grateful to God having been able to serve people in need throughout my years of non-profit work.
Following my mother's example as an activist, minister and community leader sharing the love of Jesus; and a person who gave to anyone, who sadly passed away in 2019 after a courageous eight-month battle with cancer. Shortly after her passing, my former husband and I discovered we were expecting our only child at 4 1/2 months pregnant! I made the big decision to switch from an Obstetrician to Midwifery care and had a virtually pain-free unmedicated birth in water at a birthing center.

The individualized care I received undoubtedly resulted in the calmest, most beautiful, and transformational experience of my life! Having exuberance in sharing my story with others, I quickly realized the unfortunate reality that Midwives and Doulas are mostly not covered by insurance, making it less accessible to women of color. Research proves that they significantly reduce maternal health disparities and increase healthy birth outcomes for all women. These life defining and altering experiences led me to merge my passions of service, for specifically women of African descent and women of color, and to establish Lady Power Inc. non-profit.
